My wife and I completely enjoyed our experience working with Gray Berryman. He is the first Realtor with whom I have ever worked who listened to my buying parameters (price/house style) and stayed within them. My experience in the past has been that some agents work to stretch the buyer out of their comfort zone – Gray not only kept to my requirements, he even reminded me of them several times!
We tried a “short sale”, and ultimately bought the property through a bank. Gray kept us educated and calm the whole way through. He talked us through the process, communicated regularly, and kept his patience as the players changed and the process dragged. Many people find this process very painful, but Gray made it easy for us.
After the sale, Gray was a huge help with the local contractors – he gave top picks for cable providers, pool maintenance folks, and all sorts of help. His recommendations proved efficient and responsive, and they remain on our list of people to call when we need some help.

As a result, I purchased a home that I could not be happier with. Gray listed our rental property on Schooner Ridge Drive in Duck. Because my husband and I own our own real estate office in New Jersey, we knew what to expect during the listing process. Of course, we started out with high expectations, because we are in the same field. Gray started out with a very impressive Comparative Market Analysis for our property and his real estate performance was just as impressive, if not more. He kept us informed by phone and email through whole process and made us feel so comfortable, even though we were more than 400 miles away. We had the privilege in working with Gray Berryman to purchase our home in Kill Devil Hills. Gray worked diligently with us for several months in striving to find a profitable vacation rental property within the Outer Banks. While we live over 5 hours away, Gray made this process very simple, accommodating and pleasurable.
Prior to Gray, we worked with three different agents where Gray’s knowledge “far surpassed” anyone we had dealt with. Gray also projected rental income for our home, where with all aspects in working with Gray, he was right on! Gray was great to work with during the sales process, and even after the sale, he assisted us with great advice regarding upgrades, introduced us to various staff members within Carolina Designs whom would be managing our home, and guided us to ensure we invested in a “profitable vacation home”! In 2003, we sold an oceanfront house, then several months later we purchased an oceanfront condo, and a soundfront home. In 2008, we sold the condo, and in 2009 Gray worked with our daughter and her husband to purchase a house. The point is that once we worked with Gray, we have wanted to have his help thereafter. Gray was terrific in advising us about location, quality of the property, items in need of further attention, and other factors whether pluses or minuses. His financial analyses were always insightful, whether the property was for investment or residence. During all of our transactions, we were living out-of-town, and his communications were timely and complete. He has always responded quickly to any of our questions. Gray has a great demeanor, corny sense of humor, and is always a pleasure to work with.

A True Professional
Both (my wife) and I are very are very excited at the purchase of our beach house. However, none of this would have been possible without the time, effort and commitment shown to us by Gray Berryman. Without Gray’s personal dedication we would not have ever purchased this home.
Gray is in our opinion simply wonderful to deal with. We feel like we acquired a new “friend of the family” in Gray. He stayed with us through this process for over 1 ½ years and in the end helped us achieve a dream for our family. He truly went above and beyond spending several ½ and ¾ days showing countless properties and dealing very well with our 3 children, including our very critical teenage daughters and very excited 8-year old son. He showed great humor with our kids and they in turn really enjoyed seeing Gray on our trips to the Outer Banks.
