The beach is the number one place for family fun on the Outer Banks!   Ocean Atlantic Rentals has the toys needed to enjoy it to its fullest for those who are not satisfied to enjoy the pleasures that a beach towel, umbrella and a book provide.  Surf boards, bicycles, kayaks, and beach carts can be delivered to your door.

Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head is literally one of the largest area attractions and a hike here is a must do for any guest.  Bring a kite, watch the hang-gliders, or enjoy sliding down the huge natural dunes. Just across the street, Kitty Hawk Kites selection of kites is truly impressive.

Several miles north, the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills features a visitors center and a chance to explore the site where the Wright Brothers launched the first successful airplane flights.

Golphers enjoy more than 9 area courses.  The Carolina Club is always highly recommended.  Don't forget the thrill of putt-putt--Jurassic Putt, Galaxy Golf and Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure are all favorites.

There are several spas on the Outer Banks and The Sanderling in Duck is one of the best.  If you prefer to have a massage in your vacation home, then Barefoot Massage will be happy to send a therapist and their table to you.  Also in Duck, the Norbanks Sailing Center is the place to rent sailboats in the sound or try standup paddle surfing.

The beach is the #1 place for family fun on the Outer Banks!

If you head to Corolla, plan time to visit the Currituck Lighthouse and stroll the grounds of the historic Whalehead Club

A day trip to Manteo can be filled with activity.   The Roanoke Island Festival Park offers family activities and the Pirate Adventures is always a hit with the kids.   For a sailing cruise on a larger schooner, the Down East Rover in Manteo offers daily in-season trips.  Stop by the North Carolina Aquarium and make sure to see the sharks.   Barrier Island Aviation offers biplane tours which can be a great way to see the area.  Finish a fun day with an evening performance of The Lost Colony outdoors at the Waterside Theatre in Manteo.  Bring bug spray.

off shore fishing

Nearby, the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is a fun place to see boats bringing in their catch in the afternoon.  In-shore and offshore charter boat and head boat trips can be arranged here as well.

Also be sure to drive south to Hatteras Island to enjoy more great beaches and natural scenery at the Cape Hatteras National Seashore.  Beach driving, fishing, and the Buxton lighthouse are highlights down south.
