Gray began his career at Carolina Designs Realty in 2003 and quickly became a top agent.   Gray is a leader in his field and an advocate of using the best technology to help Outer Banks buyers and sellers and other brokers. He consistently ranks among the top ten agents on the Outer Banks for homes sold and has helped clients sell or invest in over $60,000,000 in Outer Banks real estate.

Advanced Real Estate Training

Early in his career, Gray realized the benefits of education for his clients and his career. He trains to hone his professional skills to benefit his clients. The CRS (Certified Residential Specialist) is the most prestigious and difficult designation that a member of the National Association of Realtors can earn. Only 4 percent of all agents have the skills and have committed the time to earn this designation. Gray also is an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), has been certified by the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI), and has earned the e-PRO and Resort and Recreation Specialists (RRS) designations. Most recently he earned the Short Sale and Foreclosure Resouce certification (SFR) More about this training can be found here

Professional Service

As a member of the National Association of Realtors, the North Carolina Association of Realtors and the Outer Banks Association of Realtors, Gray commits to a high standard of ethics, cooperation with other agents to bettering  the real estate profession. While many agents are members of these association in name only, Gray has been committed his entire career to effectively serving other Realtor members.   In 2005, Gray was recognized by the North Carolina Association or Realtors for his exemplary service to the local board and his leadership skills and was given the “Rising Star” award. Gray is a leader of the Outer Banks Multiple Listing Service (MLS) committee.  A member since 2004, In 2007 he chaired this committee and served on the Board of Directors for the association. In 2008, 2009, and 2010 he continued to serve as the vice-chair or co-chair of this powerful committee.  In 2011 he chaired the Legislative Council for the association while continuing to serve on the MLS committee.

Family Foundation

Gray’s father, Gordon Berryman, is a builder in Williamsburg, Virginia. His mother, Linda Berryman has been a top real estate agent there since 1987. While growing up he spent countless hours helping out on the construction sites and listening to family conversations about the business. This solid foundation gives Gray a vital edge in today’s market.

Personal Experience

As an owner of several rental homes, he intimately understands the rewards, expenses, emotions that are part of owning Outer Banks real estate.  He has had two homes built and has directly supervised an extensive remodel and addition. Through these and other experiences, Gray possesses a valuable grasp of the construction process and costs. This knowledge is critical to helping his clients make good choices as potential buyers and as Outer Banks owners. 

Gray began vacationing in South Nags Head in 1974 while very young.  The thrill of crossing the bridge across the sound and spending time on the beach with family and friends continues to this day.
